Push

Quick measurement for internal comms professionals. Push is the alternate to lengthy employee surveys.

Background

THE LONG STORY

At H&H I was responsible for product development and innovation. I ran regular workshops to generate ideas, establish a product development strategy and understand product opportunities. Push is a product example resulting from this research.

Measuring the impact of internal communication proved to be a reoccurring theme and unexplored area for development. Initially I guided the development of a very basic version of Push with limited functionality to prove the concept.

After testing the concept it was clear it had value but the user experience and interface needed a significant overhaul to improve speed and create a more intuitive experience overall. The case study highlights a range of improvements made throughout.

RESEARCH

We conducted interviews with internal comms departments across 10 different companies to understand the pain points associated with the industry. The results were definitive.

Employee surveys are unengaging and internal comms professionals don’t have time to analyse masses of data collect in end of year employee surveys. IC teams needed a way to measure campaign and engagement effectively and see the results, fast!

Poll creation

NEW USERS

As we wanted to over haul the overall experience we started at the first point of interaction, the home page. There was a big emphasis on first time users and creating a poll from the marketing site before requiring sign up to demonstrate the ease and speed.

POLL PREVIEW

The previous iteration didn’t allow the user to see what their polls would look like. The new version was designed around a live preview so users can see what the poll will look like prior to publishing. The creation process is step by step using an accordion menu which reveal more detail for each section.

MOBILE PREVIEW

For mobile the preview slides in so it’s always accessible no matter which section of the poll creation menu the user is viewing. Having it on scroll made no sense because I didn’t want the user to lose their position in the poll creation process.

Admin dashboard

POLL RESULTS

The dashboard information is designed so users can get a quick sense of a poll consensus at the top level. 1 click takes the admin into more detail. The orange result highlighting the most voted answer.

POLL ACTIONS

Additional actions are available once the user selects a poll. This enables users to duplicate polls, delete them or create a group of polls. A pop up appears if they select to group them which allows the user to name the group and order the polls.

MAIL SHOT

I developed a series of emails off the back of a template that could be used to engage new and existing users,  inform them of product updates, reward, motivate and influence.
